Had a lot going on, but managed to finish this huge perler bead sprite project. Original pixel art by AbyssWolf on DeviantArt.com. The canvas is 80cm x 100cm.
Mario Kart
UncategorizedMario Kart 64 is one of my favourite games. I’ve easily spent over a thousand hours playing it. I didn’t enjoy Super Mario Kart or Mario Kart Wii as much, but here’s some art from those games that I made. (I do not speak of the GameCube version) *shudder*
Heisman Mario
Bead SpritesHere’s a piece I did up for a friend that I used to go to school with. He wanted something done that captured the pose of Mario when he changes direction. I beaded up the sprite with a 1:4 pixel to bead ratio and painted a background to give it some flavour.
AbyssWolf Card Gallery
Bead SpritesSome of the best game-based sprites on the internet are done by Orkimides and AbyssWolf/Ahruon. They have a big project going on called Card Gallery Here’s very large bead art of Link and MegaMan that I made based off of some of their pixel art. They’re each about 2 feet tall!
Cross-Stitch Clothing
Cross-StitchingBack when I was in high school I was a sucker for buying t-shirts. Mostly of bands and video games. I wish I learned how to cross-stitch earlier because I would have just made my own stuff for a fraction of the cost and get much cooler results.
Mario 3 Series
Pixel PaintingI’ve done a bunch of pixel paintings, but I thought I would try my hand at art from the manual of Super Mario Bros. 3. I’ve always loved the original artwork from this game. Just something about them! I can stare at them for minutes at a time. Minutes! These are all 40cm x 50cm acrylic on canvas.
It’s About Time!
Bead SpritesEvery artist needs a blog or site to show their stuff to the world. I finally got around to starting one. For the first post, I’d like to show off the piece that I’m most proud of. It’s bead sprites mounted on a piece of hardboard of the Super Mario Bros. 3 title screen. It measures nearly 4 feet on each side. I did this in sections since I don’t have that many pegboards. Here’s a few progress shots as it went along.
